When the network is installed or updated, you’ll want to protect your investment. Your organization needs to have a preventative maintenance program to keep the network running efficiently and reliably. If something does happen to your data you also want to have a disaster recovery plan in place and tested regularly.
An efficient and reliable network infrastructure takes some preventative measures. Most of the measures are scheduled and carried out through automatic processes. Virus pattern updates are set to update every four hours so that your virus software can catch any damaging viruses at a moment’s notice. Virus scans on all of the workstations are set to kick off in the evening, when everyone is logged out of the system. Windows XP or Vista and Office updates are done during the night.
Nightly backups are the first defense in any disaster recovery plan. They are done on an automated schedule. However this process needs to be tested by restoring files from the backup solution on a regular basis. A disaster recovery plan should be created and tested every few months to ensure that your organization can recover in a timely manner.
Aperio has a plan for any size company. Monthly, Bi-monthly and Weekly plans are available. The plan that we recommend will be defined by the complexity and size of your network infrastructure. You will be assigned a team of two Information Technology Administrators that will learn your network infrastructure and more importantly your organization’s business goals and technological expectations.
