Often documentation gets overlooked, not continually updated or simply forgotten. Network documentation is one of the most important items that Aperio will provide your organization. The documentation will include the basics, such as passwords to servers and routers but it will also include things like “How do I …” sheets that give you some nerd “self help.” The documentation also provides an inventory list of hardware and software for your insurance company as well as provides the age of your network infrastructure assets for your CPA to depreciate for tax purposes.
If your office were to get broken into and all of your network infrastructure stolen, the documentation that we have provided you in electronic form would provide the insurance company the inventory list to calculate the amount of money needed to get your organization back up and running.
Every dollar spent on your network infrastructure could possibly be written off on your taxes. Depending on how your CPA works, the documentation provides an approximate age of your hardware components, which enables your CPA to calculate the depreciation for your organizations business taxes. Tax rules are always changing and your network infrastructure may be subjected to different tax rules from year to year. Check with your CPA every year for the new rules.
